I am a retired UK Police officer (see below for more details) who currently lives in the campo near Lake Vinuela. During our infrequent trips back to the UK, my wife and I have often found it difficult to find someone who would house/pet sit for our 2 dogs and 4 birds. Those who were willing to live in the campo were expensive whilst many did not like the idea of living in, what they saw as, an isolated area. It seemed reasonable that if we were having this trouble there must be others out there who are also finding it difficult and so we decided to offer this service. For a small fee I will look after your house and pets whilst you are away. My standard charge is 15 Euros per day/night with a discount offered for 7 days/nights (the complete service is detailed below) and I am available at short notice if required. My details:

I am in my early fifties and physically fit. I am a country boy born and bred.  I received a High School education and upon leaving school at the age of 18 I joined the cadet force at Sussex Police and, on my nineteenth birthday I joined the regular force. I served with Sussex Police for 30 years until my retirement in 2003. Whilst in the police I performed uniform patrol duties; worked within the Force Control Room and spent the final 10 years of my service working within the Force I.T. department as a systems manager for the command and control system and latterly the G.I.S. (Geographical Information System or digital mapping). Since my retirement I have worked as a freelance landscape photographer and in August 2004 my wife and I moved to our current home near to Los Romanes in Andalucia. Our home is set high in the hills of the campo:

and we have two dogs (adopted from a local rescue centre):

and, currently, three caged birds (two Australian Polytelis and one cockatiel).

In other words I am used to tracks, hills, secluded location, dogs and birds. Which is why I am more than happy to house or pet sit in rural locations.

My hobbies are, obviously, photography and watching most non-American (too boring) sports and I follow the fortunes of Sussex County Cricket Club and London Wasps rugby union club (yes, I used to play a lot of rugby and cricket in my younger years).

Service offered:

• I will live at your home whilst you are away or, if you prefer, visit daily to check upon the property and/or pets.
• Plants watered, garden lightly weeded, goldfish and/or caged birds fed, house kept clean and tidy to normal standards.
• Pets will be fussed, fed, walked twice daily (where appropriate!), brushed now and again and generally spoiled.
• I am quite happy to do any minor gardening or DIY tasks, but please discuss this beforehand (tall ladders and I do not mix well!)
